Missoula’s multi-year Code Reform effort reached a major milestone this week as the Planning Commission voted to recommend adoption of the new Unified Development Code (UDC) and updated Zoning Map, along with several recommended amendments. This action moves the reform package into the final stage of the public adoption process—City Council review and approval.
The UDC is a key component of Missoula’s effort to modernize land-use regulations, increase clarity, support housing goals, and align zoning with the community’s long-term vision. The proposal incorporates extensive public engagement, technical study, and input from neighborhood groups, housing advocates, and planning staff.
